# Pierced Brass / Silver-plated Lantern Lamp

Hand-pierced light that throws the entire souk's starscape onto your walls — made by smiths whose square has rung with hammers since the 14th century

Price: 450 MAD (Medium hand-pierced solid brass lantern, settled (honest range 250-800 MAD; large statement pieces 1,000-2,000 MAD; tiny tin/candle lanterns from 30 MAD))

Where to buy: Place Seffarine in Fes (the coppersmiths' square — you hear it before you see it) or Marrakech's lantern souk; buy from a workshop with a hammering bench, not a pure reseller

- Magnet test: brass and copper are non-magnetic — a magnet that sticks means cheap plated steel
- Solid brass is heavy and rings when flicked; featherweight lamps are aluminum or tin (fine, but pay tin prices — under 100 MAD)
- Ask for the electrical fitting removed or EU/US-standard — souk wiring is not something to plug in at home
- Openers 3x: a 1,200 MAD ask is a 400-500 MAD lamp
