Customs

IN: Duty-free allowance for returning residents is ₹50,000 of goods plus 2L of alcohol — a serious K-beauty haul, a Samsung phone or a stack of K-pop albums blows past it fast, and excess is dutied at ~38.5%. Packaged red ginseng and food supplements are fine in personal-use quantities; electronics should be declared if boxed and new.
US: US$800 personal exemption and 1L alcohol (21+). Commercially packaged red ginseng extract/tea is generally admissible but MUST be declared as a food/agricultural product; fresh ginseng root is restricted. Ten-plus copies of the same K-pop album can be treated as commercial imports. Colored contact lenses are prescription devices under FDA rules — bring them for personal use only.
