- Ask for sottovuoto (vacuum-sealed) packing — keeps 3+ weeks unrefrigerated and satisfies airline/customs scrutiny
- Check the pin-dot rind stamps spelling PARMIGIANO REGGIANO — that's the DOP proof; 'parmesan' without it is a different product
- Food usually carries 4% VAT and most refund operators exclude it — don't count on a refund
